Hopefully as you read that title the song was playing in your head and gave you a boost of energy or the realization that we literally have one month left in 2017. With that being said it is imperative to be ahead of game within this final quarter. I know I am not the only one that realized this and said to themselves, ‘’ Oh S@%t, What the hell have I been doing?’’ Don’t fret though, you can still finish strong and start the new year rolling. The misconception has always been that as the new year starts that is when you begin planning. Absolutely incorrect!!! It is synonymous with what we have been conditioned to do all our lives, break that comfortable thinking and not only scare yourself but challenge yourself. We start planning things as the new year begins but as we know, those ‘’resolutions’’ usually fade off sometime in late February early March.
So how can you finish this year strong and start the year in motion? First please stop beating yourself up for procrastinating and not being where you want to be this year.It happens. After I started reading 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris literally yesterday, he made an interesting point stating that if we give ourselves too much time to complete a task it may never get done because we know we have a certain amount of time but let’s say we have an emergency and we need to get some documents completed within the next 48 hours, we find a way to get it done. So with that time frame difference you still produce the same work within a shorter time frame and probably more efficient than what you would produce with more time. Not promoting procrastination but I know I produce my best work under pressure. So how can you apply this to your last 30 days in 2017?
1.Set a strict yet attainable deadline
2. Make a list of what you need to do to get where you need to be once 12:01 a.m. strikes on January 1st 2018.
3.Give yourself no more than 72 hours to start and finish each task. That means that by December 31st you will have at least 10 tasks completed. If you keep that up that is literally 60 things done by May 31st.
The goal is to start the new year already walking and actually jogging at a moderate pace versus just starting to train for the race once 2018 hits. Look forward, keep moving, make s%$t happen.
